XXIX. Kapítuli: Frá komu Þúsundárfálkans til Dauðastjǫrnu
(The) Millennium Falcon Emerges at the Death Star
Tveim dǫgum síðar sǭ þeir Víga-Óbívan svartan reyk, ok kenntu þeir reykjarþef.
Two days later they, Slayer-Obiwan (and the others) saw black smoke, and they sensed the smell of smoke.
Ok vas reykrinn svá mikill ok myrkr, at eigi fengu þeir sétt land þat hvaðan reykrinn sté.
And the smoke was so great and dark, that they were not able to see the land whence the smoke stepped on (???).
"Hvar erum vér?" spyrr Lúkr. "Eða hvaðan kømr sjá reykr?"
"Where are we?" asks Luke. "Or from where does the smoke come?"
"Ek veit eigi," segir Hólmgǫngu-Hani, "En reiknak at it nærsta land sé ríki Aldirankonungs."
"I don't know," says Dueler-Han, "But I calculate that the nearest land would be the kingdom of King Aldiran's."
En þeir sǭ fiskibát, ok á bátinum vǭru tveir menn miklir ok sterkir.
And they saw a fishing boat, and on the boat were two large and strong men.
Þrípío spurði þá tíðenda á írsku, en menninir skynjuðu eigi hvat hann sagði.
3PO asked them in Irish (the) news, but the men didn't understand what he said.
Þá spurði hann á norrnu, hvaðan þessir menn væri komnir.
Then he asked in Norwegian, from where these men had come.
"Frá Noregi," segja einn, ok brosti við.
"From Norway," says one, and smiled in reply.
En þá þǫgðu þessir menn, ok Þúsundárfálkinn sigldi fram.
But then these men became silent, and the Millennium Falcon sailed forward (i.e., sailed on).
"Sá vas engi meiri en lítill fiskibátr," kvað Víga-Óbívan, "Ok þeir fengi eigi siglt higat allt frá Noregi sjálfir."
"That was not more than a little fishing boat," said Slayer Obiwan, "And they were not able to sail hither all from Norway themselves."
"En fyr hví væri lítill norrnn fiskibátr svá nærri Írlandi?" spyrr Hólmgǫngu-Hani.
"And why was a little Norwegian fishing boat so near Ireland?" asks Dueler Han.
Hann leit á með bátinum, ok kvað, "Þeir sigla nú til eyjar þeirar litlu."
He kept an eye on the boat and said, "They sail now to that little island."
"Þat es engi ey," segir Víga-Óbívan, "Ok es þat herskip."
"That is no island," says Slayer Obiwan, "And that is a warship."
"Ofmikit es þat, ef þat es herskip," segir Hólmgǫngu-Hani.
"That is powerful, if that is a warship," says Dueler Han.
"Þetta hugsýkir mik," segir Lúkr.
"This makes me anxious," says Luke.
"Já, nekkvat es skakkt," kvað Hólmgǫngu-Hani, "Tsiubakka, snúmsk við."
"Yes, something is awry," said Dueler Han, "Chewbacca, let's turn (I don't see how "við" fits here)."
En þeir Tsiubakka fengu eigi skipit snúit við, því at Veiði-Anakinn vas á Dauðastjǫrnu, ok vas enn maðr fjǫlkunnigr mjǫk.
But they, Chewbacca (and the others) were not able to turn the ship, because Anakin Vader was on the Death Star, and was a man very skilled in magic.
Hann hafði svá kveðinn galdra yfir sævi, at bylgjurnar frðu til hans ǫllum skipum þeim es hann kenndi eigi.
He had so recited charms over the sea, that the billows brought to him all the ships that he didn't know.
En þá es þeir skynjuðu, at þeir eigi fengu komit undan, fǭlusk þeir.
And when they understood that they were not able to escape, they hid themselves.
Sekkar miklir tíu lǭgu þar hjá búlkanum; þeir tóku nekkverja út en kómu þeir þar í staðinn þeira meðal farmsins.
10 large sacks lay there near the cargo; they took some out and they came there instead among the cargo.
Norrnir hermenn røru út frá Dauðastjǫrnu til Fálkans ok leituðu ok fundu eigi.
Norwegian warriors rowed out from the Death Star to the Falcon and looked and didn't find (anyone).
