Translation follows.  I will now look at everyone else's contributions, compare with mine, and see if I can't learn a thing or two more....

Þá kallaði Hrappur til sín Vigdísi konu sína og mælti: "Ekki hefi eg verið kvellisjúkur," segir hann, "er og það líkast að þessi sótt skilji vorar samvistur.

Than Hraup called to Vigdis his wife and spoke, "I have not been sickly," he says, "and that is likely that this illness break-up our wedded-life.

Hrapp's wife Vigdis was-resolved west to Thorstein the Black, her brother.  (I was expecting "réðst" to mean "rode," but instead I found "was resolved," which doesn't make a lot of sense here.)

 

Tók hann við henni og fé hennar.

He received her and her money. 

 

Nú var enn sem fyrr að menn fóru á fund Höskulds og sögðu honum til þeirra vandræða er Hrappur gerir mönnum og biðja hann nokkuð úr ráða.

Now (it) was yet as before that men went to meet Hoskuld and told him of their troubles which Hrapp does to men and asks him some of advice.

 

Höskuldur kvað svo vera skyldu, fer með nokkura menn á Hrappsstaði og lætur grafa upp Hrapp og færa hann í brott þar er síst væri fjárgangur í nánd eða mannaferðir.

Hoskuld stated so (it) would be, goes with some men to Hrappstad and opens (the) grave (of) Hrapp and brings him away there which least would-be (fjárgangur?) in neighborhood or (mannaferðir?).

 

Eftir þetta nemast af heldur afturgöngur Hrapps.

After this refused of more (afturgöngur?) of Hrapp.

 

Sumarliði son Hrapps tók fé eftir hann og var bæði mikið og frítt.

Hrapp's son Sumarlid took money after him and was both much and paid-in-kind.

 

Sumarliði gerði bú á Hrappsstöðum um vorið eftir og er hann hafði þar litla hríð búið þá tók hann ærsl og dó litlu síðar.

Sumarlid moved to Hrappstad during the next spring and he had there a little while lived then he took a mad fit and died a little later.  (CV ærsl - taka ærsl. to take a mad fit, run mad)

 

Nú á Vigdís móðir hans að taka þar ein fé þetta allt.

Now to Vigdid his mother to take there only all this money.

 

Hún vill eigi fara til landsins á Hrappsstöðum.

She did not want to go to her land at Hrappstad.

 

Tekur nú Þorsteinn surtur fé þetta undir sig til varðveislu.

Þorsteinn var þá hniginn nokkuð og þó hinn hraustasti og vel hress.

Thorstein was then somewhat advanced-in-years and nevertheless the most valiant and well in-good-spirits.

 

18. kafli

Af þeim Surts sonum

Í þann tíma hófust þeir upp til mannvirðingar í Þórsnesi frændur Þorsteins, Börkur hinn digri og Þorgrímur bróðir hans.

At that time in Thorness, Thorstein's relatives Bork the Big and his brother Thorgrim, they raised (themselves) up to renown. 

 

Brátt fannst það á að þeir bræður vildu þá vera þar mestir menn og mest metnir.

Soon that was pleased to that the brothers would at-that-time (to) be (the) greatest men and (the) most (metnir?).

 

Og er Þorsteinn finnur það þá vill hann eigi við þá bægjast, lýsir því fyrir mönnum að hann ætlar að skipta um bústaði og ætlaði að fara byggðum á Hrappsstaði í Laxárdal.

And when Thorstein finds that then he will then not strive with (them), (he) proclaims therefore before men that he intends to change residence and intended to move residence to Hrappstad in Laxardal (Salmon-River-Dale).
