Hey, I've been following the course for six months now and have been doing so for similar reasons. I've been researching Scandinavian culture for 5 years on and off in hopes that I can write a novel from it. My interest lies more along the lines of understanding how the language works, what words and syntax was common. Language is a fundamental part of a culture and to really delve into the world of the Vikings I wanted to learn the language. If you ever want to exchange story ideas, contact me. :)

Subject: [norse_course] Hello! New

I'm a new member, I just found the Norse Course today. I started the first lessons and am eager to learn more about the language.

My interest has to deal with research for a story I am writing. The course is wonderful for learning individual words and grammar, but some of what I will be writing won't be covered I think. Mostly the Norse I would be using would be casual conversation, so small things like genuine endearments or curses would go a long way toward realism. So I'm curious if anyone would like to share some of their favorites.

Thanks!
Dria
