I wish I had more time to work on this, but I will be out of town this weekend and unable to work on the translation. Notes in double brackets are what I gleaned after looking at Grace's and Alan's work.

Elli sótti þá fast að Unni svo að hún reis ekki upp fyrir miðjan dag en hún lagðist snemma niður.

At that time old age quickly overtook Unn so that she didn't rise up before (the) middle of the day and (but) she quickly lay down.

She permitted no man to seek advice from her between when she got to sleep in the evening and when she was dressed.

Reiðulega svarar hún ef nokkur spurði að mætti hennar.

She answers angrily if someone asked how she was.

The one day Unn slept in longer but was still out of bed (Z. fótr 1, vera a fótum = be out of bed) when guests came and went to meet them and greeted her kinsmen and friends with honor

kvað þá ástsamlega gert hafa er þeir höfðu sótt þangað langan veg.

(she) said [???] they had overcome a long trip to that place. [[I see from Alan's translation more or less how it works]]

"nefni eg til þess Björn og Helga og öllum vil eg yður þakka er hér eruð komnir."

[???] Bjorn and Helgi and all I want to thank you who are come. [[I mention-by-name...."]]

Síðan gekk Unnur inn í skála og sveit mikil með henni.

Next Unn went inside (the) hall and a great body-of-men with her.

And when the hall was quite-full many men found how this party was imposing-in-appearance.

Þá mælti Unnur: "Björn kveð eg að þessu bróður minn og Helga og aðra frændur vora og vini: Bólstað þenna með slíkum búnaði sem nú megið þér sjá sel eg í hendur Ólafi frænda mínum til eignar og forráða."

Then Unn spoke: "I say to Bjorn this brother of mine and Helgi and our other kinsmen and friends: This farm similarly with (the) household as you are now able to see, I hand over to my kinsman Olaf to have and manage. [["I call to the attention of Bjorn...."]]

After that Unn stood up and said (it was) time to go to [þeirrar???] small-detached-building as she was accustomed to sleep in, [[" go to that lady's bower as she was...."]]

bað að það skyldi hver hafa að skemmtan sem þá væri næst skapi en mungát skyldi skemmta alþýðunni.

bade that each should have entertainment as they were (in the) mood (for) and ale should amuse the-whole-people.

Svo segja menn að Unnur hafi bæði verið há og þrekleg.

So men say that Unn has both been tall and strong.

Hún gekk hart utar eftir skálanum.

She went hard outwards along the cabin. [huh?] [[She went briskly out along the hall]]

Fundust mönnum orð um að konan var enn virðuleg.

[???] that the woman was a splendid (one). [["Words were spoken that the woman was still splendid," but which word means "still"?]]

Drukku menn um kveldið þangað til að mönnum þótti mál að sofa.

Menn drank during the evening to-that-place that men thought [mál???] to sleep.

And (but) in the course of the day after Olaf Feilan went to the sleeping place of Unn his kinswowan.

And when he came in the sitting room Unn sat up against the pillow. [[pillows]]

Hún var þá önduð.

She had breathed her last. (Z, andaðr)

Gekk Ólafur eftir það í skálann og sagði tíðindi þessi.

After that Olaf went in the hall and told this news.

Þótti mönnum mikils um vert hversu Unnur hafði haldið virðingu sinni til dauðadags.

The men thought much about how deserving Unn had retained her honor until (her) day of death.

Var nú drukkið allt saman,

Now were celebrated together

brullaup Ólafs og erfi Unnar.

Olaf's wedding feast and Unn's funeral feast.

[There's more but I ran out of time]
