neðan milli Virkisbúðar og Hlaðbúðar. Snorri goði hafði þar fylkt fyrir liði
down between Virkisbúð (Stronghold-Booth) snd Hlaðbúð (Turf-Walled-Booth). Snorri (the) priest-chieftain had there drawn-up (in battle array) before-hand

Snorri goði kallað þá á Flosa: "Hví farið þér svo geystir eða hverjir elta yður?"
Snorri priest-chieftain called then to Flosi. ‘For-what (reason, ie why) do you (plural) go rushing-hastily or who (plural) pursues you?’


Flosi svarar: "Ekki spyrð þú þessa af því er eigi vitir þú það áður. En
Flosi answers: ’You ask not this because you know not that (ie the answer, reason) before. But

hvort (hvárt as interog) veldur (valda) þú því er vér megum eigi sækja til vígis í Almannagjá?"
is it that you are-the-cause of that, that we can not come to (the) vantage-point in Almannagjá (Everyman’s Rift)?’


"Eigi veld eg því," segir Snorri, "en hitt er satt að eg veit hverjir valda
’I am-not-the-cause of that,’ says Snorri, ‘but that is true that I know who (plural) is-the-cause

og mun eg segja þér ef þú vilt að þeir valda því að (?) Þorvaldur kroppinskeggi og Kolur."

Þeir voru þá báðir dauðir og höfðu verið hin mestu illmenni í liði Flosa.

Í annan stað mælti Snorri til sinna manna: "Gerið þér nú hvorttveggja að þér
