Kári Sölmundarson sneri nú þar að sem fyrir var Árni Kolsson og Hallbjörn
Kári Sölmund’s-son turned now to there where Árni Kol’s-son and Hallbjörn

hinn sterki. Og þegar er Hallbjörn sá Kára hjó hann til hans og stefndi á

Síðan hjó hann til Hallbjarnar og kom í skjöldinn og gekk í gegnum skjöldinn

og svo ofan af honum þumaltána. Hólmsteinn skaut spjóti til Kára en hann tók
and so from above (came) off his big-toe. Hólmstein shot a spear at Kári but he took (caught)

á lofti spjótið og sendi aftur og verð það manns bani í liði Flosa.
the spear in (mid) air and sent (it) back and that became a man’s death in Flosi´s troop.


Þorgeir skorargeir kom að þar er fyrir var Hallbjörn hinn sterki. Þorgeir
Þorgeir ‘Chafe-spear’ came at (attacked) there where Hallbjörn the strong was before (him). Þorgeir

lagði til hans svo fast með annarri hendi að Hallbjörn féll fyrir og komst
thrust towards him so strongly with only-one hand (see annarr, Z1) that Hallbjörn fell before (him) / forward? and got

nauðulega á fætur og sneri þegar undan. Þá mætti Þorgeir Þorvaldi
onto (his) legs with difficulty and turned away (retreated, see snua undan, Z7) at-once. Then Þorgeir met Þorvald

Þrum-Ketilssyni og hjó þegar til hans með öxinni Rimmugýgi er átt hafði
Þrum-Ketil’s-son and hewed at-once at him with the axe Tumult-Hag which Skarphéðin had owned.

Skarphéðinn. Þorvaldur kom fyrir sig skildinum. Þorgeir hjó í skjöldinn og
Þorvaldur brought the shield in-front-of himself. Þorgeir hewed into the shield and

klauf allan en hyrnan sú hin fremri rann í brjóstið og gekk á hol (hváll) og féll

Kári Sölmundarson kom að þar er fyrir var Bjarni Brodd-Helgason. Kári þreif (þrífa)
Kári Sölmund’s-son attacked there where Bjarni Brodd-Helgi’s-son was before (them). Kári snatched

upp spjót og lagði til hans og kom í skjöldinn. Bjarni skaut hjá sér
up a spear and thrust towards him and (it) came into the shield. Bjarni thrust beside himself

skildinum ella hefði spjótið staðið (standa) í gegnum hann.
