Zoëga s.v. <þykkja> has: <mér þykkir fyrir e-u> 'I dislike, am
unwilling to'. It appears to me that this is 'He knew that others
would be less unwilling to walk'.

It appears that <annan aftan> is 'the second evening' (accusative
