Subject: [norse_course] is it okay to ask for some translations?

Hello, I just joined up by clicking.

I am a writer working on a YA novel set during the 9th century Scandinavian ("Danish") invasion of Northumbria. I'm not studying Old Norse as such (I do wish I had the time!) but I will be needing a few phrases and maybe ideas on accents throughout the course of the book. I would really appreciate some help from people with knowledge. Would it be okay to post that kind of question here?

The kind of thing I'm thinking of is having my Northumbrian characters approach a hall in the dark, not knowing it is occupied by invaders till they hear the equivalent of 'Who goes there?' in Old Norse.
