Heil!
I belong to a norse culture recreation society called Reik Félag. One
of our members came up with the name some time ago after he did some
research. When we wanted a norse name for our group we wanted it to
mean something like, "travelling fellowship" or "wandering partnership"
or something along those lines, basically, to describe that we move
around and we are a goup of merchants, craftsmen, warriors and women
and children not part of some Jarl's entourage.
Anyway, during my studies of ON (and I'm just beginning) I have not
been able to find the word "reik" anywhere. I have found "félag"
meaning "partnership" in an ON-english dictionary I found online.
So, my question, in a nutshell, is our name correct? Suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug (Ulf)
