> Ég var úrhrak og um síðir

I was a scoundrel and in the end

> allslaus hrakin burt og blekkt

driven away, destitute and cheated,

> þá verð ég dáldið trekkt!

then I get little tense

(In the English version this line is preceded by "When I think of what
that brute did.")

> svo mín depurð sefast þó.

but my sadness is soothed...

(Is there a bit missed out here? It seems to skip to the next stanza
of the English translation where he's talking about the things that it
soothes him to imagine.)

> Og fægðarandvör foringjanns

and the leader's dying breaths (feigðarandvörp?)

> og fánít áköll dóttur hans.

and the futile (fánýt) cries of his daughter

> fyrir fjendur sátt að ná

To be reconciled to [my] enemies...

(Again, it skips some lines of the English.)

> Og söngvaseiður kvalaveins

and the incantation of [my] tormented wails

> Og hljómur varg(s?) í vígarmóð

and the sound of a "vargur" (agressive, pushy person; in Old
Icelandic, an outlaw or wolf) in a killing rage

> Skjálfa föll og foldin

the earth and mountains tremble
(or to make an alliterative pair in English, you could have "field and
fell")

> Kúrðu litli Kófú

Snuggle up, little Kófú.
