When he was ready and his ship lay in wait for a fair wind by the landing stage there came to him a Southerner from Bremen by/in Saxony
Hann falar af Karlsefni húsasnotru hans.
He demanded Karlsefni to sell to him the decoration on the prow
"Eg vil eigi selja," sagði hann.
"I do not want to sell" said he
"Eg mun gefa þér við hálfa mörk gulls," segir Suðurmaður.
"I will give you a half mark of Gold" says the Southerner.
Karlsefni thought well of the offer and then sold it. Thr Southerner went away with the ornament and Karlsefni did not know what wood it was but it was Maple from Vinland
Nú siglir Karlsefni í haf og kom skipi sínu fyrir norðan land í Skagafjörð og var þar upp sett skip hans um veturinn.
Now Karlsefni sails to sea and reached the north of the land in Skagafjord and he had his ship drawn up ashore for the Winter
During the Spring he bought Glaumbæjarland and had/made a farm there and lived there all his life/for the rest of his life and was the most noble of men and many descendants came from him and Guðrið his wife and we a noble family.
When Karlsefni was dead Guðriðtook to the house keeping/management (?) and her son Snorri who was born in Vinland
And when Snorri was married Guðrið went abroad - went south (usually pilgrims "go south") and came back to the home of Snorri her son by then he had had a church built at Glaumbae
Afterwarda Guðrið became a Nun and an Anchoress abd was there for the rest of her life
Snorri átti son þann er Þorgeir hét. Hann var faðir Yngveldar móður Brands biskups.
Snorri had a son named Thorgeir who was Father to Yngveld the Mother of Bishop Brand
Dóttir Snorra Karlsefnissonar hét Hallfríður. Hún var kona Runólfs föður Þorláks biskups.
The Daughter of Snorri Karlsefnisson named Hallfrið. She was the wife of Runolf father of Bishop Thorlak
Björn hét sonur Karlsefnis og Guðríðar.
Hann var faðir Þórunnar móður Bjarnar biskups.
Bjorn was the name of a son of Karlsefni and Guðrið he was the father of Thorun mother of Bishop Bjarni
Many people are descended from Karlsefni and he was blessed with a worthy family (tried Z & G and could not find the words
later found Orðinn as part of Verða)
And it was Karlsefni who made the most complete repoers of these Voyages some of which were set down in writing
I am not best pleased with any of it - still hanging around is the distress of having my email address highjacked - I reported it to uk-abuse at yahoo let them deal with it now
THanks for any forthcoming Critique
