Thorfinn Karlsefni was a very well off man - regarding money and was - for the winter - at Brattahlið with Leif Eiriksson

Soon he was fond of/attached to Guðrið and asked for her (hand in marriage) but she referred (lit.turned) him to Leif for his answer first.

Afterwards she was engaged/betrothed to him and their Wedding (?) feast in that (the following) Winter

As the same (as before) was the discussion of the Vinland's Journey continued and many people urged (strongly) for Karlsefni to take that voyage, Guðrið among them

Now (?at once) he decides to make his journey and he got himself a crew - 60 men and 5 women

Þann máldaga gerðu þeir Karlsefni og hásetar hans að jöfnum höndum skyldu þeir hafa allt það er þeir fengju til gæða.
Then a covenant was made with Karlsefni and his crew that equally (even-handed) would they divide all the wealth they could get.

Þeir höfðu með sér alls konar
fénað því að þeir ætluðu að byggja landið ef þeir mættu það.
They took all kinds (konar gen. of konr) of livestock with them because they intended to settle in the land if they were able.

Karlsefni bað Leif húsa á Vínlandi en hann kveðst ljá mundu húsin en gefa eigi.
Karlsefni asked Leif for his houses in Vinland but he declared to loan his houses but not to give them.

Then they  sailed out to sea in their ship, and came to Leif's Booths safe and sound and carried out their sleeeping sacks

They soon had in hand plenty of food and good, because  a Rorqual (Z) was (washed up) on the shore both large and good, they went there after that (quickly?) and carved up the Whale

They were then not short of Meat. The animals went up into the land and they were soon - the entire (fully male) creatures - became ill-tempered and greatly against them (hard to handle). They had fetched with them one (?particular) Bull

Karlsefni had trees felled and shaped (telgja CV) for his ship and laid up against a certain rock (G) to dry

They had all good things from the land that were there (natural resources) both of windberries (grapes) and all kinds of fish and game

Eftir þann vetur hinn fyrsta kom sumar. Þá urðu þeir varir við Skrælingja og fór þar úr skógi fram mikill flokkur manna.
After the first Winter passed - summer came then they were wary/anxious of the Skraelings and went out (only) in large numbers (You'll never walk alone)

Þar var nær nautfé þeirra en
graðungur tók að belja og gjalla ákaflega hátt.
It was near to their cattle that the bull started to bellow and called extremely loudly

And with that the Skraelings became afraid and laid down their burdens and that was Grey fur and sable and all sorts of fur wares.

and turned to (made their way to) Karlsefni's house and wanted (to go) in, but Karlsefni had the door guarded/defended (bouncers!) and neither knew the others speech.

I liked this one and hope it has worked out well - any critique welcome
Kveðja
