Damn that's frustrating! Well done for persevering. I obsessvely
"select all" and "copy" when I'm typing messages at the Yahoo groups
site, from bitter experience...

That's right.

Yes: down is where he puts his knees, up (the bank) is where he
manages to get by doing so. (See my comments for Alan.)

Yes: "L. (turns and) runs away, and G. and H. (run) after (him), and
each of them (G. & H.) gets a wound on him" (i.e. they each manage to
wound him).

'hvor' m.nom.sg. (normalised ON spelling 'hvárr') "each (of two)"
'þeirra' "of them"
'kemur' - transitive with a dative object "gets, manages to put/bring"
'sínu sári' n.dat.sg. "his own wound, a wound of his own" (i.e. a
wound caused by a blow that he, Grímur/Helgi, has struck) - 'sínu'
referring back to the subject of the sentence here: 'hvor' (Grímur/Helgi).
'á hann' m.acc.sg. "on him, onto him, upon him" = "Lýtingur'.
