The idiom 'annað mest' (ON 'annat mest') means "second bigest": 'mest'
(superlative of 'mikill'), rather than the 'best' = ON 'bezt'
(superlative of 'góðr').

"It was the second biggest temple in Norway, the other (i.e. the
biggest) being at Lade."
"It was the second biggest temple in Norway aside from the one at Lade."

> Guðbrandur mælti: "Hér munt þú vera hljóta."
> Gudbrand spoke, "Here you will be allotted??"

'vera' "to be, i.e. to stay" is dependent on 'hljóta' rather than the
other way around: "You will get to stay here" (i.e. I grant you leave
to stay here.)
