wind, waves, etc.)" I'm not aware of there being an etymological link
with the verb 'kjósa' "to choose" - from the form of the word, it
seems possible, but I can't see any obvious semantic connection. Elof
Hellquist: Svensk etymologisk ordbok says that according to H
Petersson 'keyra' (= Swedish 'köra') is related to Serbo-Croat
'zhuriti' "to hurry" (from a Proto-Indo-European root *geur) and
'gurati' "to bump" (from a PIE root *gour). PIE *gour would become
Proto-Germanic *kaur + the causative verb ending *-jan-, which would
give Icelandic 'keyra' according to the regular sound changes.
