You're possibly thinking of 'mein' "harm". 'meiðr' is a poetic
synonym for "tree", see Zoega 'meiðr' (3). He quotes another
bloodthirsty poem there: 'hrafn sat á hám meiði'.

'hám' is masc.dat.sg. of 'hár' "high".
