Larry,

I am new to the group is there a way to get a copy of your song or songs? I would love to have them to listen to to hear the way the words are pronounced.

Just a little about me for the group. My family comes mainly from Sweden ( my mother is directly from there and my Fathers, Father is from Sweden as well. ) and I was born in the USA but feel a strong link to my families origins. My mother is a Genealogist and has done allot of our work but as the dialect gets older she has a bit of a hard time. I speak no Swedish but am planning to learn because it will probably fall to me to do the Family history after she passes on. She has traced our family back to the 1600 and has hit a wall.

We have a group of gypsy type people called the Drugge that she has traced back to but doesn't know what their origin is. Well any way that is a nutshell of my interest. Any help would be most appreciated. I have wanted to learn Old Norse for some time but have been at a loss till I learned of this site from Lodin Myklebust and the Denver Viking yahoo group a Viking Reenacting group.

Thanks again for Helping out us new people.

Hi all:

The instruments used are the kantele, lyre, citole, drum, and laouta.

The kantele has six gut strings; the citole is actually a modified flat-back
mandolin I made from a kit; the lyre (built by me) is a typical 6 stringed
Anglo-Saxon type similar to Ben Bagby's Beowulf lyre; the drum is an Irish
bodhran and the laouta is a long-necked 4 course oud, similar to early medieval
lutes.

The mode corresponds to the modern key of a minor. The pronunciation is based
on my best attempts at research and a high level of risk-taking. Feel free to
point out any major blunders.
