Hi Karen,

And welcome to Norse Course. As you probably know, Modern Icelandic
has much the same grammar and basic vocabulary as Old Norse (i.e. the
North Germanic language spoken in medieval Norway and its colonies:
Iceland, the Faroes, etc.) -- in fact, the difference between them has
been likened to the difference between present day English and that of
Shakespere's time -- so those interests should complement each other
