Apparently - the ÍF edition has "margr" here, without any mention
of variants.

Actually, I think "opportunity" is the word that comes
closest here. "I will make an opportunity (for you)",
"I will give you a chance (to work for me), if you are
willing etc."

It is rather diffult to be absolutely sure, but I read
this as:

"... that you will not need me (in order) to attempt
such (a thing)."

I.e. "mín" is governed by "þurfa", rather than "kosta"
(which seems unnecessarily convoluted).
