According to the Icelandic editions this means "infected
nose, pus-nose", or possible "snot-nose".

Mud. Derived from place: "Markarfljótsaurar", where "aurar"
means something like "mud-flats". Supposedly derogatory, and
can hardly be anything else: "Lord of the Mudflats"!
