If you ever at a loss what to look under in Zoega, you can seach in
this dictionary of Modern Icelandic using the word form as it occurs:

E.g. if you type in 'ærið' you get two possibilities; and most of the
time it will be clear from the context which is right. Incidentally
CV lists all such words under 'æ', but makes clear in the individual
entries which would originally have had 'œ'.
