Patricia: "I wonder what is the chance of us ever getting an updated
version of the more commonly used dictionaries "
Well there is the new 'Dictionary of Old Norse Prose' under
construction at the moment [
http://www.onp.hum.ku.dk/ ]. Maybe you
saw that review of the first volume in a recent issue of the Saga-Book
of the Viking Society? There's a sample page at their website, a
useful list of the texts they used (with details of editions and
manuscripts), and they also have some Old Norse texts online [
http://www.onp.hum.ku.dk/litindex.html ]. These are hagiographies of
early Christian martyrs.
LN: "some of the quotes I appear to use it as an outright positive
quality"
I think I meant to write "some of the quotes I FOUND appear to use it
as an outright positive quality" or else just "some of the quotes
appear to use it as..." (Guess my fingers must have skipped athwart
the keyboard as I typed.)
