Hey all:

I hope that you can help me clear up this question for me. (Pardon my lack of
expertise.)

I've gone to this website: http://www.hi.is/~eybjorn/ugm/skindex/skin13.html -
and downloaded this particular poem. But at this point, I'm not clear on
whether this is the original Old Norse, or modernized.

Any further clarification will be very helpful to me.

Takk!

Lavrans

Vísur í Bósa sögu (Buslubæn) 1-9 [Bós]

Skjald II B 350-353 [FJ]

1. Hér liggr Hringr konungr,
hilmir Gauta,
einráðastr
allra manna,
ætlar son þinn
sjálfr at myrða,
þau munu fádæmi
fréttask víða.

2. Heyr bæn Buslu,
brátt mun sungin,
svá heyrask skal
of heim allan,
óþörf öllum
þeims á heyra,
en þó fjandligust
þeims vilk fyrir telja.

3. Villisk vættir,
verði ódæmi,
hristisk hamrar,
heimar sturlisk,
vesni veðrátta,
verði órói -
nema Hringr konungr
Herrøð friðir
ok Bögu-Bósa
bjargir veitir.

4. Svá skalk þjarma
þér at brjósti,
at hjarta þitt
höggormr gnagi,
en eyru þín
aldri heyri
ok augu þín
úthverf snúisk -
nema Bögu-Bósa
bjargir veitir
ok Herrøði
heipt upp gefir.

5. Ef þú siglir,
slitni reiði,
en ef stýrir,
støkkvi krókar,
rifni reflar,
rekisk segl ofan,
en aktaumar
allir slitni -
nema Herrøði
heipt upp gefir,
en Bögu-Bósa
biðir til sátta.

6. Ef þú ríðir,
raskisk taumar,
heltisk hestar,
en hrumisk klárar,
en götur allar
og gagnstígar
troðisk tvéfaldar
í tröllhendr fyr þér -
nema Bögu-Bósa
bjargir veitir
ok Herrøði
heipt upp gefir.

7. Sé þér í hvílu
sem í hálmeldi,
en í hásæti
sem á hafbáru,
þó skal þér síðar
sýnu verra ;
ef vilt við meyjar
manns gaman hafa,
vilzk þú þá vegar -
eða vilt þú þulu lengri?

8. Tröll ok álfar
ok töfrnornir,
búar, bergrisar
brenni þínar hallir,
hati þik hrímþursar,
hestar troði þik,
strá stangi þik,
stormar æri þik,
vei verði þér
nema vilja minn gerir.

9. Komi seggir sex,
seg mér nöfn þeira
öll óbundin ;
ek mun þér sýna ;
getr eigi ráðit,
svát mér rétt þykki,
skulu þik hundar
í hel gnaga
en sál þín
søkkva í víti.
