That bit Alan at first I was inclined to see Sam saying that the Penalty was small - "Lose your goods you rascal but keep your life"

Then I thought  Sam was saying (and this was what I stuck to)  "I'll let you have some if you are lucky" with the intention of not letting Hrafnkel have a lot, so as to keep him in his allotted place and perhaps Sam was taunting.

Some of my translation is - I agree - a bit free, I could curb this a bit I think I tend to modernise stuff, which may not be required
