Hi Fabbro, Larry and Llama Nom,

Thankyou! Llama Nom, the Icelandic translation of Beowulf is very
interesting, and I wish I had the linguistic knowledge to appreciate
it better. MnE translations always have to badly compromise either
the meter or the meaning, and usually both. But even I can see that
the Icelandic language is much better equipped to render OE poetry
than MnE is, and I'm amazed at how many of the OE words have very
close Icelandic equivalents.

I'm curious about the word Skeiðalond in line 19, that has been used
to represent the OE word Scedeland, and roughly corresponds to
southern Sweden (Skana). Has the translator just changed the sounds
and reconstructed what the word "would be" in Icelandic, or does the
word actually still exist?
