Comments and suggestions as usual. From my experience, many Old Norse and Icelandic words are made up of combinations of other words and by “breaking them down” you can generally work out the meaning. The use of ó as a negative prefix is very common.

Thorgeirr speaks [spoke] "so believe [will] to me to do [go] as the others for I know nothing to me (mik - acc.?) these men some good (upp at inni - stuck there ) [see my translation and grammar notes – I’m not sure that I have got the phrase exactly right but believe I’m pretty close]

that I will go in dispute against Hrafnkell

Thorgeirr says "I intend to do the same as the others for I know I have no reason to do good for these men that I would go against Hrafnkell

hvert sumar við þá menn, sem málum eigu at skipta við hann,
at flestir menn fá litla virðing eða enga, áðr lúki, ok sé ek þar

It seems to me he one way goes every summer with these men who have suits with him

and that the most of them [most men] get little honout if any [or none] at the end [before (the suit) closes, verb] (?of the suit)

I reckon for this reason most men are unwilling to help anyone

unless they have a meed to help (i.e. in hopes of reciprocity no doubt)

 

Alan  I have had a lot of struggle with this one,  I just could not get my head round one or two of the longer words, and actually found if I split them up into smaller sections it seemed easier - for instance ó - meaning like our "un"  if you ignore that first letter you get the original and then put the ó to make the negative

I wanted to do better this time but I am un-sure
