Here´s my translation.
Kveðja Alan
Björn hét maðr. Hann var ráðgjafi konungs.
[There] was a man called Björn. He was [the] king’s counsellor.
Honum var allt illa gefit, er honum var sjálfrátt.
To him was everything badly given [he was bady disposed towards everything?], when [it] was easy for him [he had the chance]
Hann var lyginn ok lymskr at öllu,
He was deceitful and cunning in every way,
en þó eigi at síðr var hann inn mesti kappi
but still no less was he the greatest man of valour
ok varði land konungs fyrir víkingum, ok því mat konungr hann mikils.
and guarded [the] king’s country against vikings, and for this [the] king valued him greatly.
Björn öfundaði þat mjök, at Illugi var svá kærr Sigurði konungssyni,
Björn begrudged that much, that Illugi was so dear to Sigurð [the] king’s son,
ok svá kom, at hann rægði hann við þá feðga
and so [it] came [about] that he slandered him before them ([the] father and son).
ok sagði Illuga vera ótrúan konungssyni.
and said Illugi to be unfaithful to [the] king’s son.
Konungr hlýddi á þetta, en Sigurðr trúði því ekki.
[The] king listened to that, but Sigurð believed that not.
Ferr nú svá fram um nokkura tíma,
[It] goes now so forward a certain time,
at Sigurðr konungsson er heima hjá föður sínum í mikilli sæmd ok virðingu.
that Sigurð [the] king’s son is at home by his father in great honour and esteem.
Einn tíma bað Sigurðr föður sinn at fá sér skip ok menn
On one [particular] occasion, Sigurð asked his father to give him a ship and men
ok segist vilja ór landi at afla sér fjár ok frægðar.
and said himself to want [to go] out of [the] country to earn himself fortune and fame.
Konungr sagði, at þat skyldi á mánaðarfresti búit vera, --
[The] king said, that that should be ready on a month’s notice, --
"ok Björn skal fara með þér," segir konungr, "en Illugi vil ek heima sé."
“and Björn shall travel with you,” says [the] king, “but Illugi I want to be [???] at home.”
Sigurðr svarar: "At vísu vil ek, at Illugi fari."
Sigurð answers: “I certainly want, that Illugi goes.”
En konungr sagði Björn skyldi fylgja honum, --
But [the] king said Björn should accompany him, --
"því at hann er hverjum kappa meiri ok bilar aldri í stríði.
“because he is than [???] every champion greater and yields never in adversity.
Hann mun þér vera hollr ok trúr, sem hann hefir mér verit,"
He will to you be loyal and true, as he has been to me,”
sagði konungr, ok skilja þeir nú tal sitt.
said [the] king, and they break off now their conversation.
Eptir þetta gengr konungsson til Sviða ok segir Hildi tal þeira feðga.
After that, [the] king’s son goes to Sviði and tells Hild [the] conversation of that father and son.
Hún segir son sinn ungan vera ok eigi í hernað fara mega.
She says her son to be young and may not go a-harrying.
"Er hann ok ekki reyndr," segir hún, "vilda ek ok ekki heldr,
“He is also not experienced,” says she, “I wanted also not moreover,
at Björn brygði honum því,
that Björn reproaches[bregða] him with that,
at hann þyrði ekki at berjast með þér í orrostu."
that he dares not to fight alongside you in battle.”
Lýkr Hildr svá máli, en konungsson ferr heim til hallar ok er mjök óglaðr.
Hild concludes so [the] speech [???] but the king’s son goes back to [the] hall and is very gloomy.

No shame in bailing out now, if you want a respite before
Hrafnkell. But just in case anyone's itching for more, here´s the
first half of chapter 2.

gefit, er honum var sjálfrátt. Hann var lyginn ok lymskr at öllu, en
þó eigi at síðr var hann inn mesti kappi ok varði land konungs fyrir

at Illugi var svá kærr Sigurði konungssyni, ok svá kom, at hann
rægði hann við þá feðga ok sagði Illuga vera ótrúan konungssyni.
Konungr hlýddi á þetta, en Sigurðr trúði því ekki.
Ferr nú svá fram um nokkura tíma, at Sigurðr konungsson er heima hjá
föður sínum í mikilli sæmd ok virðingu. Einn tíma bað Sigurðr föður

Eptir þetta gengr konungsson til Sviða ok segir Hildi tal þeira
feðga. Hún segir son sinn ungan vera ok eigi í hernað fara mega. "Er
hann ok ekki reyndr," segir hún, "vilda ek ok ekki heldr, at Björn
brygði honum því, at hann þyrði ekki at berjast með þér í orrostu."
Lýkr Hildr svá máli, en konungsson ferr heim til hallar ok er mjök
óglaðr.
