just starting

How can a person who is just starting learn old Norse,
and being that I have Mac OS 10.4 and verion ten of
office-how can I write old norse characters? Is there
a system 10-compatible font? I got all kinds of
language fonts under syustem 9 but how do I get system
10 versions of them, or can I still use system 9
versions?
