Hi,

Ive just started the course and wondered if there  were many other
beginners? From my
experience in OU Ive found that it helps to know others in
independant study, even if its
just a name on the screen! It might sound daft but its nice to here
about other people
sucsess and difficultys while learning.

Currently Im on lesson two and just trying to master the mysteries of
conjucating verbs.
One thing I've found so far is this course is leading me to a better
understanding of
English grammer, which can be no bad thing in itself.  Im also lucky
in that my mother has
studied grammer, so when I meet a concept I have no knowlage of (
whats an infinative?!?!)
I can call her.

I was brought up in Shetland, and the laungage uses some words from
old norse, as well
as old scots, and has strong links to norway. I spent one night
trawling through online
dictionarys finding words I could already recognise that I use
myself, which makes the
effort more fun.
