grips well with this section as well, only a few bits where I can help
you... here goes -

He goes now afterwards south along the country and in Vík east

"síðan" can also mean "further" which I think it does in this context - "he
now travels further south"

"með landi" can also mean "over land"

"í Vik austr" could also be translated as "eastwards to Vik"

Pretty much so, yes. Literally: and then when every coin of his money was
gone/used up
