Before I give my translation, I have some additional comments on other’s translations of Auðun – 4

On tenses of verbs:

segir hann.  Konungr mælti: "Villtu gefa mér þá?"  Hann svarar, "Eigi, herra."

Said he   King asked "Will you give it to me"   He answered "no Lord"

Note: “segir” and “svarar” are present tense.

Konungr mælti: "Hvat villtu þá af gøra?"

kingsays - what - will you - then - concerning - do

Note: “mælti” is past tense.

eða ætlar þú giptu þína svá mikla

Then think you luck so great

eða =or, þína = your  thus: or – think – you - luck – your – so – great…

My translation of Auðun - 5:

Auðun svarar:  "Herra, þat er á yðru valdi,

Auðun answers: “Lord, that is in your power,

en engu játum vér øðru en þessu er vér høfum áðr ætlat."

But we (I!) agree to nothing other than to this which we (I!) have before intended (to do).”

Þá mælti konungr: "Hví mun eigi þat til, at þú farir leið þína, sem þú vill?

Then (the) king spoke: “Why will (should?) that not happen, that you go your way, as you want?

Ok kom þá til mín, er þú ferr aptr,

And come then to me, when you journey back,

ok seg mér hversu Sveinn konungr launar þér dýrit.

And tell me how King Sveinn rewards you for the animal.

Ok kann þat vera, at þú sér gaefumaðr."

And that may be that you be a lucky man.”

"Því heit ek þér," sagði Auðun.

“I promise you that,” said Auðun.

Hello everyone!

Don't worry if you've not posted your translation yet, it's never too late, but for those who are eager to do the next bit - here it is.

[By the way: any ø should really be o with a little squiggle underneath, but I can't get my keyboard to give a reasonable representation of this - sorry.]

Auðun svarar:  "Herra, þat er á yðru valdi, en engu játum vér øðru en þessu er vér høfum áðr ætlat."  Þá mælti konungr: "Hví mun eigi þat til, at þú farir leið þína, sem þú vill?  Ok kom þá til mín, er þú ferr aptr, ok seg mér hversu Sveinn konungr launar þér dýrit.  Ok kann þat vera, at þú sér gaefumaðr."  "Því heit ek þér," sagði Auðun.
