king - says - will you - sell - us - animal the - in exchange for -
such - worth - as - you - bought/paid
The king asked: "Will you sell me the animal for the price you paid?"

Hann svarar: "Eigi vil ek þat, herra."
he - answers - not - will - I - that - lord
He answered: "I am not willing to do that, sire."

"Villtu þá," segir konungr, "at ek gefa þér tvau verð slík?
will you - then - says - king - that - I - give - to you - two -
worth - such
"Will you then," said the king, "let me give you twice what it is
worth?"

ok mun þat réttara, ef þú hefir þar við gefit alla þína eigu."
and - shall - that - right/rede/just - if - you - have - there - in
exchange for - given - all - your - possessions
That would be right, if you have given all your possessions in
exchange for it."

The king asked: "What will you do with it then?"

Hann svarar: "Fara," segir hann,
he - answers - go - says - he
"Go," he answered,

"til Danmerkr ok gefa Sveini konungi."
to - Danmerkr - and - give - to Sveinn - king
"to Denmark and give it to King Svein."

Haraldr konungr segir, "Hvárt er, at þú ert maðr svá óvitr
Haraldr - king - says - can it be - that - you - are - a man - so -

King Harald said, "Can it be that you are such an ignorant man

at þú hefir eigi heyrt ófrið þann er í milli er landa þessa,
