japanese 'ch' in kana (on a norse list?)

why the Japanese never
incorporated the 'ch' sound into their
hiragana/katakana.


emily, although there is no separate, distinct kana for 'ch', they write this sound in kana as a combination of 'chi(=ti)' + 'ya/e/yo/yu'.  they do the same for 'sh' and 'j'.
