Subject: [norse_course] Jed re Sarah's
queries H'kel ll. 126-151
Hello Sarah
Wishing you a (relatively) sober New
Year!
1/ line130 'mundi mál
heim'.......... What about 'would be home time' ?
2/ line 135 'áðr viku'.........In
line 108 it says 'Honum var vant nær viku' - ' he was missing
them for nearly a week' . If you translate from this context,
a full week has not yet passed, so 'áðr viku' will mean 'earlier in the
week'
3/ line 140 'á mikilli
rás'..... The meaning of 'rás' is given as 'race', 'hurry', and in Zoega, also
as 'running' If we opt for the last meaning, it could
translate as ' at a great pace'.
Hope this is of some help. Hope even more that it
is right!
Cheers
Jed
