Stephen
I was interested in your observation to Ethan on
the reflexive pronoun 'ser' and how it has a parallel in your dialect.
I am West Cumbrian and 'thu' is still
very prevalent here in conversation, but I have never heard of your own local
expression, 'Come hither with thu'. We would say 'Bring thee sel (self) here'
Can you tell me what your locality is? I am studying Old Norse for its own
merits but am always on the look-out for spin-offs which throw light on our
dialect and place-names.
Cheers
