Sæll Thomas!

You're right!  It is a piece of well-done Bothvar!!  I've cut and pasted Simon's excellent translation (posting entitled [norse_course] TRANSLATION ENCLOSED) for you to see some minor improvements.

Kveðja,
Sarah.

Heil Sarah!!

Here is my “ well done” translation of the Böthvarr chapter.

As always the Old Norse version first, here it is:

A hero in the making!

ðvarr leyndisk í brott um nóttina; hann lætr Hơttr fara með sér, ok gørir hann þat nauðugr ok kallaði hann sér stýrt til bana.  Bơðvarr segir at betr mundi til takask.  Þeir ganga í brott frá hơllinni, ok verðr Bơðvarr at bera hann, svá er hann hræddr.  Nú sjá þeir dýrit, ok því næst oepir Hơttr slíkt sem hann má ok kvað dýrit mundu gleypa hann.  Bơðvarr bað bikkjuna hans þegja ok kastar honum niðr í mosann, ok þar liggr hann ok eigi með ơllu óhræddr.  Eigi þorir hann heim at fara heldr.  Nú gengr Bơðvarr móti dýrinu; þat hoefir honum, at sverðit er fast í umgjơrðinni, er hann vildi bregða því.  Bơðvarr eggjar nú fast sverðit ok þá bragðar í umgjơrðinni, ok nú fær hann brugðit umgjơrðinni svá at sverðit gengr ór slíðrunum, ok leggr þegar undir boegi dýrsins ok svá fast at stóð í hjartanu, ok datt þá dýrit til jarðar dautt niðr.  Eptir þat ferr hann þangat sem Hơttr liggr.  Bơðvarr tekr hann upp ok berr þangat sem dýrit liggr dautt.  Hơttr skelfr ákaft.  Bơðvarr mælti:  ‘Nú skaltu drekka blóð dðyrsins.’

And now my own translated version which this time is quite good:

Bödhvarr stole  away in the night, Höttr is with him and he (Höttr) does that unwillingly and he says  that he is going to die. Bodhvarr says that it would be better to begin. They walk away from the hall and Höttr is so afraid that Bodhvarr has to carry him. Now they see the animal and Höttr almost shouts as hard as he can and says that the animal would swallow him. Bödhvarr calls him bitch an throws him down in the moss and there he lies not totally unafraid. And he doesn´t dare to go home either. Now Bödhvarr goes towards the animal he notices that the sword is stuck in the sheath when he wants to draw it. Bödhvarr now struggles with the sword and then it moves and now he manages to pull the sword so that it comes out of the sheath and immediately he runs the sword in the heart of the animal and then the animal fell dead to the ground. After that he goes to the place where Höttr lies. Bodhvarr  lifts him up and carries him to the place where the dead animal is lying. Höttr is shaking very much. Bödhvarr says: now you shall drink the blood of the animal.
