OK! Now here's a crazy suggestion! Having just studied Bvarr's story and analysed every word in the utmost grammatical detail, I don't mind posting up a paragraph every week or so. Then if folk want to translate it, I will try to give constructive feedback on their translations, based on my uni notes - provided there is some more experienced person (Konrad, Pelle, Haukur) in the background who is prepared to jump in and correct any mis-advice I may be giving.
Your comments on this crazy idea of the partially-sighted leading the blind is welcome!!!
Laurel: I don't think it's a crazy suggestion at all! I think it's a wonderful idea and go for it. It's what I've been suggesting, but being a beginner I don't have the background to follow up on other's translations/efforts etc. I think the Barnes reader has also annotated that (I didn't buy the reader, since I already had Gordon), so maybe someone with that text can also help. What texts/grammars did you use in your coursework?
I'd love to do more Faereyinga Saga too. I've printed out the texts when those were posted, so I might go back and look at those now that I've got the Barnes grammar, and can at least tackle the nouns!
I have also found it fun, to just go to the website and start reading the archives from Post #1. I'm sure I'll find other things along the way that people have posted to translate, like the F.Saga.
Thanks for you offer, and I hope to see an excerpt soon!
