Hi folks,

Another beginner weighing in here.  And thanks to the brave souls who brought up the subject.  I did post, not too terribly long ago, that I had just gotten the recommended Grammar by Michael Barnes, which has jump-started my own studies.  I got through 3 or 4 of Haukur's lessons and they were fun, but there isn't really enough "substance" there for me.  I've studied many other languages, so maybe I have an advantage there, and it doesn't intimidate me to jump into a text and translate what I can, without worrying about every single word.  I greatly enjoyed the Faereyinga Saga posts, although I wasn't in a position at that time to jump in.  Now that I've gotten through a bit of the Barnes, I think I could at least take a stab at picking nouns and pronouns out of a text.  I suggested in my last post that perhaps others might want to join me in working on Bovar Bjarki simply because it is the the first one recommended in the Barnes reader (and for those who don't have that, it is also in Gordon.)  I don't really care what text we use, but I would like to see some kind of ongoing translation exercises offered on this list.  Nobody ever replied though and said yeah I'd like to work on that too...  So what'll it be?  More Faereyinga Saga?  A Loki story?  Or I'd be perfectly happy to type in the first paragraph of the Bovar Bjarki text.  But let's do something, please?

Laurel
