A little confidence booster for all those who feel afraid to appear ignorant:

Way, way earlier in the school year, I was in the spelling bee. The entire school, with all the teachers, made up the audience. On my first time up, the word was "limbo". Suddenly, I got completely pysched out. After standing there for a while, the principal said, "The word was limbo." "I know," I replied, so brilliantly. I flushed as the audience giggled. I felt like throwing up. Finally, after standing up there for what seemed like forever and a day, I was declared out.

That was months ago. Last year, even. But still, as I walk down the hall, people walk by and say to me, "Spell limbo!" or "Teja, L-I-M-B-O!" or people pretend to do the limbo. Also, there's "Why didn't you spell limbo?" and in my math class I am now called "Teja Johnson-Limbo". Basically, if limbo can find its way into the conversation, it will. Once, my gym teacher even brought it up in front of the whole class when I missed the soccer ball. I nearly cried.

Consider this next time you don't want to write. You're not the only one who feels stupid. And, I understand. (A bit off-subject, but only meant to comfort, for all that it's worth.)
