Hi Stuntie!

I was chatting to Barnes the other day and apparently he is not retiring at
the end of this year as I'd been told but in a couple of years. Sadly
Perkins is also retiring, next year I think, and no-one knows yet what is
happening about replacements.

They will both be a great loss to the department. I'm doing this part time,
so I only take three modules this year. My other two lecturers are Daisy
Neijmann and Tom Lundskær-Nielsen who are both great too!

Not sure about the ABBA discos - I'll have to investigate that one......

Regards,
Sarah.

Hi Sarah,

I read that you at UCL and that you have Barnes as a professor.

I was at UCL too from 92-96 or there abouts doing Scandinavian studies.
And I had Barnes as a lecturer too.
Sorry to hear that Barnes is retiring.
He was a great guy, and like you said, very helpful.
He helped me out a lot with Runology (He even let me do Runology 1 in the
first year - which was a third year course).

Who do you have for Old Norse?
Is it still Perkins?
(Mad as a hatter, but a great guy as well).

Any idea who is replacing Barnes?

Cheers
Stuntie.

P.S. Scand Soc still doing ABBA discos?
