You have come to the right place. The best way to learn is to stick
to the same text and learn it well, both the grammar and vocabulary.
We are presently reading Færeyinga Saga (Story of Faroe Islanders),
a unique and powerful work in Old Norse. We just started chapter 3.
The first two chapters are rather short, so you may want to go back
and read these chapters first. The story is just getting started and
we are all excited to see what happens next.

What I need is advice on where to start.

Do you have a dictionary and a grammar? Whether you do or not, the
vocabulary for each chapter or portion is posted after people have
had some time to examine it. Questions about grammar are discussed
as well. This is a very good place to start.

My advice would be to start looking at a continuous text. Words are
often more clear and easier to learn in an actual context. See what
you think of the first two chapters of Færeyinga Saga.

Konrad.
