I'm not sure whether the form with article was 'broeðrnir'
or 'broeðrinir'; I can't find a reference for this and Modern
Icelandic and Modern Faroese seem to give a conflicting testimony.

The latter form seems much more pronounceable - but that may
not be a good guide for a language with (alleged) monosyllables
like:

strenzkr
vermsl
fegrstr
kysstst

Hmm... good question. Originally I thought (and, I believe,
wrote) that it was an adverb - but I see Zoega gives it as
a conjunction. Maybe Dionysius Thrax didn't know all there
was to know about parts of speech.
