If you happen to read German, Jan de Vries, Altnordisches Etymologisches Woerterbuch (this PC doesn't let me do an Umlaut).  I'll check it this weekend, by the way, to see what he says about Mardol--which I think he also discusses in his Altgermanische Religionsgeschichte.
I--being likewise interested in the god-names--have looked before & will doubtless look lots more; haven't yet made it all the way through the 100+ for Himself.

Best,
David.

PS on pronunciation: Just when I thought I had a reasonable lot of it straightened out, somebody (not on the list) tells me ON has THREE a's: a short a (quick ah), a long a (drawn-out a, NOT marked with an acute accent), and a thing that IS marked, and is pronounced 'au'.  I thought that last was a modern Icelandic pronunciation of what had been a long ah sound in ON.  Help!
