Sæll Haukur,
Am I completely off if I'm guessing Haleyri to be
Helsingör? Eyri is of course Ör as in Öresund - Eyrarsund.
I also saw on a map of Denmark that there are place
with the "hal"-bit in it but that was in Jylland, round Fredrikshavn - and
as "það var þá fjölmenni" (i don´t want to give away anything for those working
hard on translations) is mentioned in the text it might suggest that it indeed
is Helsingör as that area likely was "fjölmenn" even in the days of Egla
gömlu. But still Jylland just as well might be fjölmennt.
And another question, maybe you´ve already answered
this once, is Færeyinga saga fornmál eða miðmál?
Thanks on beforehand (:that be
swenglish)
