Hi again!

Just two more Q's I can't resist asking:

1. út borinn at fornum sið - could this refer to a kind of ceremonial carrying the body around the community to say goodbye?

2. . Þeir lögðu hluti á, ok hlaut Þrándr. I think I understand, but both hlutur and hljóta (get/receive in Modern Icelandic) must be cognate with the English "lot", particularly in its sense of drawn lot, with a view to deciding who wins and who loses. So, from this relatively limited sense, has this word gone on perhaps to become the second most common Icelandic word for get/receive after fá?

Cheers

Simon
