Dear List,
I hope I did make it clear in what I wrote yesterday
that the examples I constructed could contain errors.
Thus for example, the following example might easily
contain an error:

> "Ek sá hana ríða í aptansól."

That is the reason why I finished my post with the words:

hoping thereby to have made it clear that the constructed
examples were just that. My hope was that Haukur
(or Eysteinn, another excelent linguist, who often reads
the list mail), would be able to find time to point out
errors.

The German examples are actually very useful for those
who already know some German. What was dumb (below)
was that I actually made a typo when copying from Duden,
for which I wish to apologize here and now:

here is the typo.
It should have been: "Sie ließen ihn gehen", which is what
Duden has on page 679.
The "m" in "ihm" makes it into a dative, whereas the example
pertains to accusative w/ inf.
Then, following that, I was misled by my own typo and wrote
"honom", also a *dative. It should have been "han" of course.

Als I don't know if láta can be used in this fashion. I
just took it straight from German and Scandinavian, which
does not always lead to correct results.

Here below, I do say clearly, that the examples were constructed.
I think you are awfully hard on the persons you contact by private
mail about their errors "GG".

The above four examples, then, ought to be error-free
examples, because they are in fact quotes from genuine
Old Norse sources.

Here below I did try to experiment a bit, which I hope
was clear:

"vita til e-s" says the dictionary. That's why I used the
genitive ! ;o)
