Well, this all depends on your level of comprehension of Icelandic.
If you speak Icelandic you will be able to understand virtually
everything you _see_ in the Faroese. As far as understanding oral
communication, that will all depend on how well you understand spoken
Icelandic and Danish. If you can understand those two you can
understand a lot of Faroese, but by no means all.

I can understand about 40% of what the Faroese say, and I am a fluent
speaker of Modern Icelandic. Since I only read mainland
Scandinavian, and understand very little spoken, I can't comprehend
Faroese like Icelanders who also speak Danish, Norwegian or Swedish.

None of this is really very important since all Faroese and
Icelanders a tourist will meet will invariably speak English (if not
also German and one or more mainland Scandinavian languages).
