I see, well I actually interpreted your statement to have
a somewhat wider application. In science some of the worst
things are those about which one can say "it isn't even wrong".

But, according to what you are saying, his pronounciation
guide must in fact contain not just a few errors. And
personally, I cannot see why a language expert would need to
publish things that are wrong. If he felt uncertain, he could
easily have found someone to read the manuscript first.
(my opinion) And if he can't get the pronounciation right,
why would he get the runes right? (the latter being
much more difficult)

I also found out about Asterix in a 1000 German dialects.
(well not thousand, but quite a few)
Do you know if Asterix is in Icelandic ?
