Sk�laholt looks to me like a compound of sk�li, a shed or hall, and holt,
woodland, so the meaning seems to be "hall of the woodland".
�lfossvatn does look rather like "Ale Waterfall Lake" to my far from expert
eye. Sounds like something from drunks' heaven.
