I came across this lovely site with many old texts in normalised Icelandic:

http://www.snerpa.is/net/

Plus, I have a question which is somewhat related - I remember hearing
about a journal/diary of an Icelandic farmer who described, in incredible
detail, a famous volcano eruption which destroyed, among other things, the
author's home. Unfortunately, I only remember that his name was either Jón
or Jónsson - which narrows it down a little, but still leaves an absurdly
long list of Icelandic authors this might be. But I remember getting the
impression that this was a fairly well-known author whose journal was
well-published (at least in Iceland), so I figured someone here might have
an idea what I was talking about...

thanks,

-Selv
